CHICAGO, IL – July 27, 2015 – Oyster Fest Presented by Shaw’s Crab House is back and on Friday, September 11 from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., will bring live music from synth-pop act band, St. Lucia, fresh seafood, a variety of East, West and Gulf Coast Oysters, craft beer, and cocktails to more than 6,000 guests in downtown Chicago. Shaw’s Oyster Fest is located at 435 N. Wabash at Hubbard St. and Rush St.

Tickets for Oyster Fest will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30 and are available for $30 per person at oysterfestchicago.com

The Music
This year’s musical headliner is Indie Pop Band St. Lucia who will take the stage at Oyster Fest at 8 p.m. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, front-man, Jean-Philip Grobler started St. Lucia in early 2010, pulling inspiration from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Peter Gabriel, Madonna and other songs from his youth. When The Night, the synth-pop band’s debut album, expands upon St. Lucia’s unique brand of dreamy, nostalgic pop sound. The band recently embarked on a headline tour of the U.S., selling out all 23 shows (including four shows in New York City). St. Lucia has toured with some of music’s hottest names including Ellie Goulding and Charli XCX, shared a stage with Fun, Two Door Cinema Club, Young The Giant, the Shins and more. The Indie Pop band has also performed at major music festivals including Lollapalooza, Governors Ball and Firefly.

The Food
This year’s Oyster Fest menu is curated byShaw’s Crab House and Chef/ Partner Doug Psaltis and features fresh seafood influenced by the East, West and Southern Coasts as well as a large varietal of oysters on the half shell. Dishes may include Shaw’s signatures items like King Crab Bites and other regional favorites like New England Chowda, Steamers with drawn butter, Oyster Po’ Boy’s and Seafood Gumbo. An array of beverage options will be available for festival goers at Oyster Fest this year including wine, a wide selection of craft beers and cocktails.

New this year is a special crab dinner for $75 per person with seating’s at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. that will take place at the festival. Additional details on dinner this year’s menu, on-site dinners and special offerings coming soon, stay tuned.

Special Events and Happenings
The weeklong festivities will kick-off on Monday, September 7 with ½ priced oysters on the half shell and other specials offered all week long at both Shaw’s Crab House locations (Chicago: 21 E.  Hubbard St. and Schaumburg 1900 E. Higgins Rd.); all culminating in Friday’s Oyster Fest. In addition to the in restaurant specials, we will continue an Oyster Fest tradition: thenightlySlurp-Off. During Oyster Fest week, Shaw’s invites competitors to slurp down a dozen oysters as fast as they can, hands-free, with the goal to advance to Friday’s Grand Slurp-Off happening at the Festival at 7:30 p.m. for their chance to win a grand prize of $1,000.

This year’s Oyster Hall of Fame inductee is Hama Hama, a fifth generation family-run shellfish farm. On Thursday, September 10, 2015, Shaw’s will host a special Oyster Hall of Fame Dinner to honor this Washington-based oyster company with a reception and specially prepared multi-course meal featuring the farm’s shellfish.
